Jesus Answering Said Unto Him, Suffer It To Be So Now: For Thus It Becometh Us To Fulfil All Righteousness

Can I ask you a question?

Do you think you are better then Jesus?

I hope your answer is no.

Have a look at this passage of scripture in Matthew Chapter 3 and verses 13 to 17

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

So... If Jesus got baptized why shouldn't you? I hear all sorts of weird arguements as to why not but at the end of the day Jesus thought water baptism was so important that he led the way. He is the captain of our salvation and the captain has gone before us in every step.

Notice here that John realizing who Jesus was intially forbad it but Jesus said, Suffer it to be so now! Why? For thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.

Yes we need both the baptism of John - full immersion baptism in water also known as the baptism of repentance and we also need the baptism of Jesus - full immersion Holy Spirt baptism also known as the baptism of fire.

It becometh US - water and fire. The true Elijah ministry. Read 1 Kings Chapter 18 and let the God who answers by fire be your God.

Also note how that when Jesus was baptized it was by full immersion. The only way baptism was done in the New Testament church. When Jesus went up straightway OUT OF the water.

John the Baptist was fulfilling the ministry of Elijah

Matthew 17:11- And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

Elijah preached repentance as did John the Baptist. The people in Elijah's day had been duped by the prophets of Baal and he turned them back to God by telling them to worship the God who answers by fire.

Elijah drenched the sacrifice with water before God sent fire from heaven to consume it.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

If we truly want to serve the Lord then we need to be baptized by full immersion and ask the God of heaven through his Son jesus Christ to fill us with the Holy Ghost and fire.
